I promised to get this posted in July and here it is already August. Sometimes I just get lost in a time warp, or so it seems, and I can hardly believe that summer is fading away. In fact, I didn’t want to believe it, but heard geese honking outside my window this morning, and the distant drifting sound of kids on a playground. It makes me a little sad, as I’m not yet ready to trade in flip-flops for shoes, lazy mornings for a school bell, or my glass of lemonade for a mug of hot chocolate. But that’s exactly what will happen when I start back to work in two weeks.
Maudlin meanderings aside, here’s a link to the first chapter of my new book. Or you can find it on the “BOOKS” page just beneath The Vanishing Game. Of course, the chapter will be subject to changes once edits are made, but for now, I’m very happy to introduce you to Avery, my new favorite character. Happy reading!
(P.S. Thanks to Rachel for all her help in getting the new book info set up. [Sorry it took me so long! -Rachel])

That first chapter is so good! I can’t wait to read the rest of the book.

It’s currently with my editor at Bloomsbury, and I’ve heard through the rumor mill that she loves it. Now I’m just waiting to see what happens. I recently blogged about the plot and posted the first chapter. [...]
